Ready to Race

Hellyer has a long tradition of developing racers that have transitioned from new velodrome user to National, World or Olympic level athlete. In support of this tradition we’ve started the Hellyer Racer Development Program with a specific focus on mass start events including scratch, points, miss-n-out and madison.

There are no teams to join, we’re focused on developing athletes regardless of what kit they wear!

Below are current events at the velodrome and on the road for the 2013 year.

Introduction to Racing and Training Series
Every Monday March 11th through August 26th!
The Introduction to Racing and Training Series, part of the Hellyer Racer Development Program, introduces new velodrome users to mass start racing at the Velodrome. The sessions introduce new users to the format of race night, velodrome rules, safety, etiquette, race tactics and more. All sessions start with an organized warmup and continue with discussion about what to expect and how to prepare for race night at Hellyer.

Red Kite Omnium Criterium Series
March 11th through August 31st
To foster the relationship between road and track, we’re partnered with Red Kite Racing and will be at the events in the Red Kite Criterium Series. You’ll find us at the Hellyer Velodrome tent, this will serve as a location for you to join together with fellow track and criterium racers. Information on the series is available here 2013 Red Kite Criterium Series

There will be a number of training and racing opportunities in addition to what’s listed above. Be sure to join the Hellyer Racer Development Program Google Group to stay up-to-date on the latest information:
