The 6th annual Hellyer Women’s Track – Race and Training Series (promoted by San Jose Bicycle Club) is designed to introduce women to racing on the track in a fun, non-intimidating environment. The sessions are conducted by experienced women track racers who know their stuff!

If you are a climber, and find yourself getting dropped or in difficulty on flatter sections of a race or a ride, learning to ride the track will help you get a feel for riding at a high tempo. If you ride with a group, track cycling will also help you develop skills of riding in a pack, and it will also teach you good drafting skills and sprinting skills.

The 2014 Series sessions are broken in to 4 skill-specific training modules so you can learn different things in each session and get a “taste” of all the track has to offer women!

Schedule (12PM to 5PM each session; limit 20 attendees per session):
Session #1: Saturday, 1 March – Time Trials: Pursuit and Team Pursuit
Session #2: Saturday, 5 April – Team Sprint and 500 Meter TT
Session #3: Saturday, 19 April – Sprint Techniques and Kierin
Session #4: Saturday, 10 May – Mass Starts (Scratch, Points, Eliminations, etc)

Fees: The sessions are $49.00 per person/ per session (incl. NCVA fee and rental).

Part of the proceeds go to SJBC women’s racer development fund and sponsorship of the women’s racing prize purses at the velodrome challenge.
